PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Description
The one built to stay outside.
Same 5,750 BTU/hr as the indoor high efficiency unit, in a housing rated to live outdoors in weather. That is the whole difference, and it is why it weighs 49 lb rather than 40. If the plunge is in a garden and the chiller has nowhere sheltered to go, this is the one that survives.
It handles all conditions except freezing. Below 32°F ambient it has to be disconnected and drained, which is a genuine limitation in a cold winter rather than a formality, so plan for that before you commit to an outdoor install.

Before you order
- Freezing is the limit. Rated for all weather except freezing. If ambient drops to 32°F it must be disconnected and fully drained or it will be damaged. Think about that before an outdoor install in a cold state.
- Power outdoors. 3.9A on a standard socket, but the outlet itself needs to be a suitable outdoor circuit. That is an electrician's call, not ours.
- No pump in the box. This is the chiller alone. A plunge build also needs a pump and tubing, and Penguin's own accessory pump package is not rated for cold therapy use. Tell us your tub and we will spec the pump before you order rather than after.
- Delivery. Ships free to the contiguous 48 states from Penguin's Tennessee factory.
You will also need a pump
A chiller does not circulate water on its own. It needs a pump to move water between the chiller and your plunge.
We recommend running the pump submersed. Submersed operation keeps the pump primed, runs quieter, and puts no load on the pump inlet. It can also be plumbed in line. If you do, hand-tighten the fitting at the inlet, do not force it, and support the weight of the pipework so it does not bear on the pump body. The inlet is the part most likely to be damaged by an over-tightened or unsupported fitting.
Returns and delivery
Change-of-mind returns accepted within 21 days of dispatch, subject to a 20% restocking fee, which is what Penguin Chillers charge us. Return freight is arranged by us and charged to you at cost, and you will have the exact figure in writing before anything is booked. Custom-configured units cannot be returned.
Damage in transit and manufacturing defects are covered in full at our cost.
