Description

A bigger coil on the same compressor, for $100.

5,750 BTU/hr against the standard ½ HP's 5,000, from an identical 3.9A draw in an identical cabinet. The gain is entirely in a larger titanium or 316 coil, and at a hundred dollars over the standard unit it is the easiest upgrade decision in the range.

Suited to a smaller tub, roughly 80 to 100 gallons, or to a well insulated one that is not fighting much heat gain. If the tub is larger or sits in the sun, go up to a 1 HP rather than expecting this to hold the temperature.

Key Features
  • 5,750 BTU/hr. 15 percent more than the standard ½ HP on the same power draw.
  • Larger coil. Titanium or 316 stainless, both bigger than the standard unit's.
  • 110 to 120V, 3.9A. Standard socket.
  • 40 lb. The lightest chiller in the range, 16.25 in wide.
  • Digital controller. Front mounted, sets and holds a target temperature.
  • Made in Tennessee. Penguin builds these in Knoxville.
  • One-year warranty. Manufacturer parts and labour cover.

Before you order
  • Size it honestly. Good for roughly 80 to 100 gallons. On a bigger or sun-exposed tub it will run constantly and still not hold the number you want. Send us the volume and we will say if it is enough.
  • No pump in the box. This is the chiller alone. A plunge build also needs a pump and tubing, and Penguin's own accessory pump package is not rated for cold therapy use. Tell us your tub and we will spec the pump before you order rather than after.
  • Power. 3.9A on a standard socket. Not on an extension lead.
  • Delivery. Ships free to the contiguous 48 states from Penguin's Tennessee factory.
You will also need a pump

A chiller does not circulate water on its own. It needs a pump to move water between the chiller and your plunge.

We recommend running the pump submersed. Submersed operation keeps the pump primed, runs quieter, and puts no load on the pump inlet. It can also be plumbed in line. If you do, hand-tighten the fitting at the inlet, do not force it, and support the weight of the pipework so it does not bear on the pump body. The inlet is the part most likely to be damaged by an over-tightened or unsupported fitting.

Returns and delivery

Change-of-mind returns accepted within 21 days of dispatch, subject to a 20% restocking fee, which is what Penguin Chillers charge us. Return freight is arranged by us and charged to you at cost, and you will have the exact figure in writing before anything is booked. Custom-configured units cannot be returned.

Damage in transit and manufacturing defects are covered in full at our cost.
