PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Description
The one for a tub too big for a 1 HP.
15,000 BTU/hr, which is where you end up once the tub is over about 150 gallons or two people are using it in the same session. Half the reason a plunge disappoints is a chiller that cannot pull the heat out faster than the room puts it back, and that shows up worst on the biggest tubs.
Two exchanger options. The PVC shell with a titanium coil is the standard build and it is fine for fresh water. The 316 stainless shell and coil costs $300 more and is the one to take if the water is salted, heavily treated, or the unit lives outdoors near the coast.
Key Features
- 15,000 BTU/hr. Sized for large single tubs or two-person use.
- Two exchanger builds. PVC with titanium coil, or full 316 stainless.
- 110 to 120V. No 240V supply needed at this capacity, which is unusual.
- Digital controller. Front mounted, sets and holds a target temperature.
- 96 lb. Freestanding. No mounting frame required.
- Made in Tennessee. Penguin builds these in Knoxville.
- One-year warranty. Manufacturer parts and labour cover.

Before you order
- Power, and read this one. 11A on a 110 to 120V supply, running continuously. That is above the 12A continuous limit a standard 15A circuit is rated for once you allow headroom, so give it a dedicated 20A circuit. Sharing it with anything else is how the breaker trips mid-session.
- No pump in the box. This is the chiller alone. A plunge build also needs a pump and tubing, and Penguin's own accessory pump package is not rated for cold therapy use. Tell us your tub and we will spec the pump before you order rather than after.
- Siting. 96 lb, and it throws warm air and condensation. It needs space around it and a surface that can get wet.
- Delivery. Ships free to the contiguous 48 states from Penguin's Tennessee factory.
You will also need a pump
A chiller does not circulate water on its own. It needs a pump to move water between the chiller and your plunge.
We recommend running the pump submersed. Submersed operation keeps the pump primed, runs quieter, and puts no load on the pump inlet. It can also be plumbed in line. If you do, hand-tighten the fitting at the inlet, do not force it, and support the weight of the pipework so it does not bear on the pump body. The inlet is the part most likely to be damaged by an over-tightened or unsupported fitting.
Returns and delivery
Change-of-mind returns accepted within 21 days of dispatch, subject to a 20% restocking fee, which is what Penguin Chillers charge us. Return freight is arranged by us and charged to you at cost, and you will have the exact figure in writing before anything is booked. Custom-configured units cannot be returned.
Damage in transit and manufacturing defects are covered in full at our cost.
