PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Description
The middle of the range, and the one most plunges actually need.
10,000 BTU/hr, which covers a normal single-person tub of roughly 100 to 150 gallons held in the high thirties. Below that you are paying for capacity you will not use, and above it the pull-down time gets long enough to notice.
The exchanger choice is the only real decision. PVC shell with a titanium coil is the standard build. The 316 stainless shell and coil is $300 more and worth it if the water is treated, salted, or the chiller sits outdoors in a corrosive spot.

Before you order
- Power. 7.2A on a standard socket, running continuously. Give it a circuit that is not shared with a high-draw appliance.
- No pump in the box. This is the chiller alone. A plunge build also needs a pump and tubing, and Penguin's own accessory pump package is not rated for cold therapy use. Tell us your tub and we will spec the pump before you order rather than after.
- Siting. Warm exhaust air and condensation. It wants ventilation and a surface that tolerates water.
- Delivery. Ships free to the contiguous 48 states from Penguin's Tennessee factory.
You will also need a pump
A chiller does not circulate water on its own. It needs a pump to move water between the chiller and your plunge.
We recommend running the pump submersed. Submersed operation keeps the pump primed, runs quieter, and puts no load on the pump inlet. It can also be plumbed in line. If you do, hand-tighten the fitting at the inlet, do not force it, and support the weight of the pipework so it does not bear on the pump body. The inlet is the part most likely to be damaged by an over-tightened or unsupported fitting.
Returns and delivery
Change-of-mind returns accepted within 21 days of dispatch, subject to a 20% restocking fee, which is what Penguin Chillers charge us. Return freight is arranged by us and charged to you at cost, and you will have the exact figure in writing before anything is booked. Custom-configured units cannot be returned.
Damage in transit and manufacturing defects are covered in full at our cost.
